Hi this is Mike Lipkin and welcome to this breakthrough moment. In the next few minutes, I will share with you how to deliver the ultimate value proposition, no matter who you are.

The most valuable people are the people that cause breakthroughs with others. It’s as simple and spectacular as that. I define a breakthrough as an action that moves someone through an obstacle. Or it’s a sudden insight that enables someone to achieve a remarkable result. Or it’s a personal victory over doubt that liberates someone from their fear. Or it’s a decisive discovery that precipitates extraordinary progress. Or it’s the accomplishment of significant personal success.

I have a name for people that cause breakthroughs with others: The Potentiators. Yes, The Potentiators. They are people that increase others’ strength and effectiveness; they bring people together so they can achieve more than they could separately; they help actualize others’ dreams; they produce more energy than they consume; they cause breakthroughs by helping others play at their best.

I am playing the role of Potentiator with you right now. I’m getting you to think about how you can cause breakthroughs with others. It may require bold action or it may only require a subtle pivot. Sometimes just a small amount of the right insight can make a massive difference. The main thing is to see yourself as a Potentiator so you can play the part.

Begin by taking these three steps:

  1. Declare your commitment to causing breakthroughs with others. Get them to see you as someone that helps them play at their best.
  2. Become their champion. Understand the role that you play in their success. Then play it the best way that you know how. Come through for them in the crunch. Always be learning.
  3. Communicate the contribution that you’re making to their success. Your actions can speak for themselves but your words amplify their impact. Say what you’re going to do. Do what you said you would. Then, talk about the impact of what you did. Share it with a sense of gratitude and pride.

Remember: we’re only as good as the people that help us play at our best. Causing breakthroughs with others is the greatest gift we can give them. The benefit is always reciprocal.
